It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came to one of his daughters when she was in the throes of death. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) held her and placed her in his lap. At that moment, her soul departed. Tears came to the eyes of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and Sayyida Umm Ayman (may Allah be pleased with her) also began to weep. Someone said to her: Are you weeping in the presence of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)? She replied: Why should I not weep, when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) is also weeping? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I am not weeping; this is mercy. The soul of the believer departs from his sides while he is praising Allah Almighty. In another narration, it is stated: The believer is in all kinds of goodness in every condition; when his soul is departing from his sides, even then he is praising Allah Almighty.
