Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Call a physician so that he may examine my wound. Accordingly, an Arab physician was called. He gave Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) nabidh (a drink). When it came out from the wound below the navel (in the form of blood-mixed nabidh), the nabidh became like blood. Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) says: Then I called another physician from among the Ansar of Banu Muawiyah. He came and gave Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) milk to drink, but it came out pure white milk from the wound. The physician said: O Leader of the Believers! Make your will, (you are about to pass away). Upon hearing this, Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: This brother from Banu Muawiyah is speaking the truth; if you had said anything else, I would have considered it wrong. Upon hearing this, the people began to weep. Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Do not weep over us; whoever wants to weep should go outside. Have you not heard the saying of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that the deceased is punished because of the weeping of his family? For this reason, Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) would not allow weeping near the deceased, whether it was his own children or anyone else.
