Hadith 3067

عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا قَالَتْ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ: ((كَانَ الْكَافِرُ مِنْ كُفَّارِ قُرَيْشٍ يَمُوتُ فَيَبْكِيهِ أَهْلُهُ، فَيَقُولُونَ: الْمُطْعِمُ الْجِفَانِ، الْمُقَاتِلُ الَّذِي، فَيَزِيدُهُ اللَّهُ عَذَابًا بِمَا يَقُولُونَ))
It is narrated from Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When any disbeliever from among the Quraysh died, his family would weep over him and say: The one who fed many people, the one who fought... Because of these words, Allah Almighty would increase his punishment.
Brief Explanation
Benefits: … “Jafnah” (جَفْنَۃ) has the plural “Jifan” (جِفَان), which means large tubs. The chief would serve people from a large tub filled with fat and oil; the Arabs used to say: “Anta al-jafnatu al-gharra’” (You are the white tub). By “white” is meant that it is filled with fat and oil.
