عَنْ شَدَّادِ بْنِ أَوْسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ: ((إِذَا حَضَرْتُمْ مَوْتَاكُمْ فَأَغْمِضُوا الْبَصَرَ، فَإِنَّ الْبَصَرَ يَتْبَعُ الرُّوحَ، وَقُولُوا خَيْرًا، فَإِنَّهُ يُؤَمَّنُ عَلَى مَا قَالَ أَهْلُ الْبَيْتِ))
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Shaddad bin Aws (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When you come to your deceased ones, close their eyes, for the gaze follows the soul, and speak good words, for whatever the household says at that time, it is answered with "Ameen."
