Brief Explanation
Benefits: … It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah radi Allahu anhu that the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: “Instruct your dying ones to say: ‘La ilaha illallah’ (There is no deity except Allah), for indeed the soul of the believer departs gently like the dripping of sweat, while the soul of the disbeliever departs from his mouth’s corners as the soul of a donkey departs.” (Al-Mu’jam al-Kabir of Tabarani: 3/77/1, al-Sahihah: 2151) That is: “Instruct those near death to say ‘La ilaha illallah’; the soul of the believer leaves like the dripping of sweat, whereas the soul of the disbeliever leaves from his cheeks like the soul of a donkey.”
