It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Do not wish for death, for the anxiety of the matters (that come) after death is also very severe. Good fortune is that a servant’s life is long and Allah Almighty grants him the ability to repent.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … By "al-muttali‘" is meant those matters upon which a person will be informed in the life of Barzakh (the intermediary state after death) and then on the Day of Resurrection, while those matters are many times more severe compared to worldly conditions. This is the very reason that one who commits suicide to escape worldly troubles falls into a greater punishment, except if Allah, the Exalted, forgives him. Therefore, we should not consider death as a means of deliverance from worldly trials, and we should regard life as a great blessing, increasing in righteous deeds (a‘maal salihah) and turning our attention towards returning to Allah.
