عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ: ((قَالَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ: إِذَا أَحَبَّ الْعَبْدُ لِقَائِي أَجْبَبْتُ لِقَاءَهُ وَإِذَا كَرِهَ الْعَبْدُ لِقَائِي كَرِهْتُ لِقَاءَهُ))، قَالَ: فَقِيلَ لِأَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ: مَا مِنَّا أَحَدٌ إِلَّا وَهُوَ يَكْرَهُ الْمَوْتَ وَيَفْظَعُ بِهِ؟ قَالَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ: إِنَّهُ إِذَا كَانَ ذَلِكَ كُشِفَ بِهِ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said: Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, says: When My servant likes to meet Me, I also like to meet him, and when My servant dislikes to meet Me, I also dislike to meet him. Someone said to Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him): Each one of us dislikes death and fears it? He said: When the time of death approaches, everything becomes clear.

Benefits: … The meaning of the answer of Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah radi Allahu anhu is that when the time of death draws near and the realities of each person's end become manifest before him, then the matter of liking or disliking the meeting with Allah arises. The fortunate ones begin to desire it, while the unfortunate ones start to avoid it. (May Allah Ta'ala keep all of us in His protection) Ameen.
