عَنِ ابْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أُنَيْسٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: دَعَانِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ: إِنَّهُ بَلَغَنِي أَنَّ خَالِدَ بْنَ سُفْيَانَ بْنِ نُبَيْحٍ يَجْمَعُ لِي النَّاسَ لِيَغْزُونِي وَهُوَ بِعُرَنَةَ، فَأْتِهِ فَاقْتُلْهُ، قَالَ: قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ! اعْنِتْهُ لِي حَتَّى أَعْرِفَهُ، قَالَ: ((إِذَا رَأَيْتَهُ وَجَدْتَ لَهُ قُشَعْرِيرَةً))، قَالَ: فَخَرَجْتُ مُتَوَشِّحًا بِسَيْفِي حَتَّى وَقَعْتُ عَلَيْهِ وَهُوَ بِعُرَنَةَ مَعَ ظُعُنٍ يَرْتَادُ لَهُنَّ مَنْزِلًا، وَحِينَ كَانَ وَقْتُ الْعَصْرِ، فَلَمَّا رَأَيْتُهُ وَجَدْتُّ مَا وَصَفَ لِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنَ الْقُشْعَرِيرَةِ، فَأَقْبَلْتُ نَحْوَهُ وَخَشِيتُ أَنْ يَكُونَ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَهُ مُحَاوَلَةٌ تَشْغَلُنِي عَنِ الصَّلَاةِ، فَصَلَّيْتُ وَأَنَا أَمْشِي نَحْوَهُ أُومِئُ بِرَأْسِي الرُّكُوعَ وَالسُّجُودَ، فَلَمَّا انْتَهَيْتُ إِلَيْهِ قَالَ: مَنِ الرَّجُلُ؟ قُلْتُ: رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْعَرَبِ سَمِعَ بِكَ وَبِجَمْعِكَ لِهَٰذَا الرَّجُلِ، فَجَاءَ كَذَلِكَ، قَالَ: أَجَلْ أَنَا فِي ذَلِكَ، قَالَ: فَمَشَيْتُ مَعَهُ شَيْئًا، حَتَّى إِذَا أَمْكَنَنِي، حَمَلْتُ عَلَيْهِ السَّيْفَ، حَتَّى قَتَلْتُهُ، ثُمَّ خَرَجْتُ وَتَرَكْتُ ظَعَائِنَهُ مُكِبَّاتٍ عَلَيْهِ فَلَمَّا قَدِمْتُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَرَآنِي فَقَالَ: ((أَفْلَحَ الْوَجْهُ))، قَالَ: قُلْتُ: قَتَلْتُهُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ! قَالَ: ((صَدَقْتَ)) الْحَدِيثِ
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Anis (may Allah be pleased with him) says: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) called me and said: I have received news that Khalid bin Sufyan bin Nubaiah is gathering people against me and he is currently at the place of ‘Urnah. Go and kill him. I said: O Messenger of Allah! Please describe a sign for me so that I may recognize him. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When you see him, you will feel a shiver run through you because of him. So I took my sword and reached him. He was indeed at the place of ‘Urnah with his women and was preparing a place for them. Meanwhile, the time for ‘Asr prayer had also arrived. When I saw him, as per the saying of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), a shiver ran through me. I advanced towards him. I feared that some altercation might occur between me and him which would distract me from the prayer. Therefore, while walking towards him, I began to pray, performing bowing and prostration by gesture. When I reached him, he asked: Who are you? I said: An Arab. I have heard that you are gathering people against that man (Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him), so I have also come. He said: Yes, I am engaged in this effort. So I kept walking with him. When he gave me an opportunity, I attacked him with my sword and killed him, and left from there while his women were bent over him. When I reached the service of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), he saw me and said: You have succeeded. I said: O Messenger of Allah! I have killed him. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: You speak the truth. Al-Hadith.
