(وَعَنْهُ مِنْ طَرِيقٍ ثَالِثٍ) قَالَ: غَزَوْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قِبَلَ نَجْدٍ، فَوَازَيْنَا الْعَدُوَّ فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ
(The third chain) He says: I participated with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, in a military expedition towards Najd, so we came face to face with the enemy... .
Brief Explanation
Benefits: … From these ahadith, the following method of the prayer of fear (salat al-khawf) is established: the imam should divide the army into two groups; one group should pray with the imam while the other stands facing the enemy. After the first rak‘ah, the two groups should switch places with each other. Then, when the imam completes the prayer with salam, each group should perform one rak‘ah individually. This arrangement will be applicable when the enemy is not in the direction of the qiblah.
