Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) says: The sun became eclipsed, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) performed prayer, and the people were with him. He (peace and blessings be upon him) stood for as long as Surah Al-Baqarah, then made a long bowing (ruku’), then raised his head and stood for a long time, but it was less than the first standing, then made a long bowing, which was less than the first bowing, then prostrated, then stood up and stood for a long time, but it was less than the first bowing. Abdullah bin Ahmad says: My father said: And according to what I recited to Abdur Rahman, he said: Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) stood for a long time, which was less than the first standing, then made a long bowing, which was less than the first bowing, then raised his head, then stood for a long time, but it was less than the first standing. Then made a long bowing, and it was a little less than the first bowing, then he (peace and blessings be upon him) prostrated and completed the prayer. Then Imam Ahmad returned to the hadith of Ishaq and said: Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) gave salam, while the sun had become clear. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Indeed, the sun and the moon are two signs among the signs of Allah, they do not become eclipsed due to the death or life of anyone, so when you see this, remember Allah. The companions said: O Messenger of Allah! We saw you reaching for something and then saw you retreating? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Indeed, I saw Paradise and I wanted to take a bunch from it, and if I had taken it (and brought it to you), you would have eaten from it as long as the world remains. And I saw the Fire, and I have never seen a scene more terrifying than today. I saw that most of its inhabitants were women. The companions asked: O Messenger of Allah! What is the reason for that? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Because of their ingratitude. Someone said: Do they disbelieve in Allah? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: They are ungrateful to their husbands and do not appreciate favors. If you were to do good to one of them for a lifetime, but then she saw something (displeasing) from you, she would say: I have never seen any good from you.
