Hadith 289

Sayyiduna Bara’ bin Azib (may Allah be pleased with him) says: “We did not hear all these ahadith directly from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him); our companions would narrate to us from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), because we used to be occupied with herding camels.”

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … The summary of the discussion is that some of the Companions exercised caution in narrating the Prophetic ahadith, and they were somewhat apprehensive that they might make a mistake. However, Allah Ta‘ala created among the Companions, and later as well, such individuals who preserved the blessed ahadith with great care and then transmitted them further. Therefore, people should not discontinue this chain; rather, they should narrate the ahadith of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam which, in terms of chain of transmission, are authoritative, and they should completely avoid any carelessness.
