فِيمَا جَاءَ فِي الْإِحْتِرَازِ فِي رِوَايَةِ الْحَدِيثِ وَتَجْوِىْدِ أَلْفَاظِهِ كَمَا صَدَرَ مِنَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺOn what has come regarding caution in narrating hadith and perfecting its wording as it was uttered by the Prophet ﷺ
Hadith 287

عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ الْيَشْكُرِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّهُ قَالَ فِي الْوَهْمِ: ((يُتَوَخَّى)) قَالَ لَهُ رَجُلٌ: عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ؟ قَالَ: فِيمَا أَعْلَمُ
It is narrated from Sulaiman Yashkari, may Allah have mercy on him, that Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri, may Allah be pleased with him, used the word "Yatawakha" regarding doubt occurring in prayer. A man asked him, "Is this being narrated from the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him?" He replied, "To the best of my knowledge, this is the case."
Brief Explanation
Benefits: … The meaning of "yatakhaffā" is the same as "yutaharrā," that is, to investigate and search, and to seek what is better. Imam Sufyan, in his Jami', has narrated these words from a hadith of Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar radi Allahu anhu: ((Iza shakka ahadukum fi salatihi falyatawakha hatta ya'lama annahu qad atamma)) … When any of you has doubt in his prayer, he should seek the better option until he knows that he has completed the prayer.
