Abu Aisha, the companion of Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him), says: Sayyiduna Saeed bin Aas (may Allah be pleased with him) called Sayyiduna Abu Musa Ashari and Sayyiduna Hudhaifah bin Yaman (may Allah be pleased with them both) and asked: How did the Messenger of Allah say the takbeers in the Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha prayers? Sayyiduna Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) said: (In each rak’ah) he would say four takbeers, just like the takbeers of the funeral prayer. Sayyiduna Hudhaifah (may Allah be pleased with him) confirmed his statement. Abu Aisha says: After that, I never forgot his words “just like the takbeers of the funeral prayer.” Mak’hool says: Abu Aisha was present in the gathering of Sayyiduna Saeed bin Aas (may Allah be pleased with him).
