It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr bin Aas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said twelve takbeers in the Eid prayer: seven in the first rak’ah and five in the second rak’ah, and he did not perform any (nafl) prayer before or after Eid. Abdullah bin Ahmad says: My father, Imam Ahmad, said: And this is also my school of thought (that twelve takbeers should be said).
