Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would go to the Eid ground on the day of Eid, he would order that a spear be fixed in front of him. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) would pray towards it, while the people stood behind him. He (peace and blessings be upon him) would observe this practice even during travel. Afterwards, the rulers also maintained this Sunnah.
