Abdur Rahman bin Abis says: I said to Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas, may Allah be pleased with him: Were you present with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, on Eid? He said: Yes, and if it were not for my close status with the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, I would not have been able to attend due to my young age. Then he said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, came out and performed two rak‘ahs near the house of Kathir bin Salt, and then delivered the sermon. He did not mention the call to prayer (adhan) or the commencement (iqamah).
