Sayyidah Umm ‘Atiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her) says: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), may my parents be sacrificed for you, commanded us that we should bring out the young girls, the veiled women, and the menstruating women on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha (to the Eid ground). However, the menstruating women should stay away from the place of prayer and participate in the goodness of this work and the supplications of the Muslims. Someone asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): What if a woman does not have a cloak? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Her sister should give her a cloak.
