Abu Ghalib reports that Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: On the day of Jumu’ah, the angels sit at the doors of the mosque. They have scrolls with them, in which they record the names of the people. When the Imam comes out for the sermon, the scrolls are rolled up. I asked: O Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him)! If someone comes after the Imam has come out, does his Jumu’ah not count? He replied: Why not, but he is not among those who are recorded in the scrolls.
