بَابُ فَضْلِ التَّبْكِيرِ إِلَى الْجُمُعَةِ وَالْمَشْيِ لَهَا دُونَ الرُّكُوبِ وَالدُّنُوِّ مِنَ الْإِمَامِ وَالْأَنْصَاتِ لِلْخُطْبَةِ وَغَيْرِ ذَلِكَChapter on the virtue of going early to Friday, walking rather than riding, drawing near to the Imam, listening to the sermon, and other matters

عَنْ أَبِي أَيُّوبَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: دَخَلْتُ مَعَهُ الْمَسْجِدَ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ فَرَأَى غُلَامًا فَقَالَ لَهُ: يَا غُلَامُ! اذْهَبْ، الْعَبْ، قَالَ: إِنَّمَا جِئْتُ إِلَى الْمَسْجِدِ، قَالَ: يَا غُلَامُ! اذْهَبْ! الْعَبْ، قَالَ: إِنَّمَا جِئْتُ إِلَى الْمَسْجِدِ، قَالَ: فَتَقْعُدُ حَتَّى يَخْرُجَ الْإِمَامُ؟ قَالَ: نَعَمْ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: ((إِنَّ الْمَلَائِكَةَ تَجِيءُ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ فَتَقْعُدُ عَلَى أَبْوَابِ الْمَسْجِدِ فَتَكْتُبُ السَّابِقَ وَالثَّانِي وَالثَّالِثَ وَالنَّاسَ عَلَى مَنَازِلِهِمْ حَتَّى يَخْرُجَ الْإِمَامُ، فَإِذَا خَرَجَ الْإِمَامُ طُوِيَتِ الصُّحُفُ))
Abu Ayyub says: I entered the mosque on Friday with Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him). He saw a boy and said to him: O boy! Go and play. But he replied: I have come towards the mosque. He again said: Boy! Go and play. But he again replied: I have come towards the mosque. He asked: Will you remain seated until the Imam comes out? He said: Yes. Upon hearing this, Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say that on Friday, the angels come and sit at the doors of the mosques, and they write down the people who come first, then those who come second, and then those who come third, according to their ranks, until the Imam comes out. When the Imam comes out, the records are folded up.
