بَابُ إِطَالَةِ الْإِمَامِ الرَّكْعَةَ الْأُولَى وَانْتِظَارِ مَنْ أَحْسَنَ بِهِ دَاخِلًا لِيُدْرِكَ الرَّكْعَةَChapter on the Imam lengthening the first rak'ah and waiting for someone entering to catch the rak'ah
Hadith 2588

عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: كَانَتْ صَلَاةُ الظُّهْرِ تُقَامُ فَيَنْطَلِقُ أَحَدُنَا إِلَى الْبَقِيعِ فَيَقْضِي حَاجَتَهُ ثُمَّ يَأْتِي فَيَتَوَضَّأُ ثُمَّ يَرْجِعُ إِلَى الْمَسْجِدِ وَرَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي الرَّكْعَةِ الْأُولَى
Sayyiduna Abu Sa’id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) says: The Zuhr prayer would be established and one of us would go towards Baqi’, relieve himself, then (come home and) perform ablution, then when he would come towards the mosque, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would still be in the first rak’ah.
