بَابُ تَخْفِيفِ صَلَاةِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِالنَّاسِ مَعَ إِتْمَامِهَاChapter on the Prophet's lightening the prayer for the people while completing it
Hadith 2573

(وَعَنْهُ مِنْ طَرِيقٍ ثَالِثٍ) عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَنْ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ كَانَ يُصَلِّي بِهِمْ بِالْمَدِينَةِ نَحْوًا مِنْ صَلَاةِ قَيْسٍ وَكَانَ قَيْسٌ لَا يُطَوِّلُ، قَالَ: قُلْتُ: هَكَذَا كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصَلِّي؟ قَالَ: نَعَمْ وَأَوْجَزُ
(The third chain) His father Abu Khalid says: Indeed, Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) used to lead them in prayer in Madinah in the same manner as Qais used to pray, while Qais did not prolong the prayer. So I asked: Did the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) pray like this? Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Yes, rather, his prayer used to be even shorter than this.
