Abdullah bin Shaqiq says: I became ill in Persia, so I used to pray sitting. When I inquired about this from Sayyida Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her), she said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to pray for a long part of the night standing and for a long part of the night sitting. When he recited (Qur'an) standing, he would also perform ruku' standing, and when he recited sitting, he would also perform ruku' sitting.
