Hadith 240

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When Allah intends good for someone, He grants him understanding in the religion."

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … By “fiqh” is meant the understanding of the sciences of the religion, and the source of these sciences is the Qur’an and Hadith. When Allah, the Exalted, wishes to bestow goodness and well-being upon someone, He grants him knowledge of the Shari‘ah, and it is this knowledge that produces awe (khushiyyah) in the heart, and then its effects become visible upon the limbs and faculties. Understand well that in the blessed ahadith, “fiqh” does not refer to the technical or customary fiqh; moreover, the prevalent form of fiqh that is before the people—and upon which some people are greatly proud—this very form has distanced people from the Qur’an, Hadith, and their understanding. In these ahadith, great virtue has been mentioned for those who possess knowledge of the Qur’an and Hadith. Such people should continue their mission with patience, and keep their garments safe from greed, avarice, and places of accusation. A good end awaits such people.
