It is narrated from Sayyiduna Mu'adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) set out on a journey, and this was the incident of the Battle of Tabuk. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) combined the Zuhr and Asr prayers, and the Maghrib and Isha prayers, and performed them together. The narrator says: I asked, "What prompted the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to do this?" He replied: The Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) intention was that he did not want to cause hardship for his Ummah.
