It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik, may Allah be pleased with him, that the people of Yemen came to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and said: "Send us a man who will teach us the religion." The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, took the hand of Sayyiduna Abu Ubaidah bin Jarrah, may Allah be pleased with him, and sent him with them and said: "He is the trustworthy one of this Ummah."

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … For the purpose of teaching the people of Yemen the Qur’an and Hadith, the trustworthy and eminent Companion of the Muslim Ummah, Sayyiduna Abu Ubaydah (radi Allahu anhu), is being chosen, and this distinction is being granted to this Companion due to his knowledge of the Shari‘ah. Alas! If only this reality were recognized even today. We are passing through such a tumultuous era in which leading the prayer (imamat), delivering sermons (khitabat), calling the adhan, serving the mosque, teaching memorization and recitation (hifz and nazirah), and instructing in Qur’an and Hadith are not considered honorable occupations—astaghfirullah (I seek Allah’s forgiveness).
