Nafi’ (may Allah have mercy on him) says: Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) had a friend in Syria who used to write letters to him. Once, Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) wrote to him: “I have received information about you that you have engaged in (improper) discussion regarding the matter of destiny (Qadar). Therefore, refrain from writing letters to me, because I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: ‘There will be people in my Ummah who will deny destiny (Qadar).’”
