It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) asked Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him): When do you perform Witr? He replied: At the beginning of the night, right after the Isha prayer. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) then asked: O Umar! When do you perform it? He replied: At the end of the night. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: O Abu Bakr! You have chosen caution, and O Umar! You have chosen strength.
