Brief Explanation
Benefits: … The mention of "night" in this hadith is a mistake of a narrator. The voluntary (nafl) prayers that the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam used to perform during the day amounted to sixteen rak‘ahs. The details of this have already been mentioned under another hadith in the section titled: "A comprehensive account of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam’s voluntary prayers during the day and the Sunnah prayers associated with the obligatory (fard) prayers."
