عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ السُّلَمِيِّ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ذَاتَ يَوْمٍ جَالِسًا وَفِي يَدِهِ عُودٌ يَنْكُتُ بِهِ، قَالَ: فَرَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ فَقَالَ: ((مَا مِنْكُمْ مِنْ نَفْسٍ إِلَّا وَقَدْ عُلِمَ مَنْزِلُهَا مِنَ الْجَنَّةِ وَالنَّارِ)) قَالَ: فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ! فَلِمَ نَعْمَلُ؟ قَالَ: ((اعْمَلُوا! فَكُلٌّ مُيَسَّرٌ لِمَا خُلِقَ لَهُ)) {أَمَّا مَنْ أَعْطَى وَاتَّقَى وَصَدَّقَ بِالْحُسْنَى فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُ لِلْيُسْرَى، وَأَمَّا مَنْ بَخِلَ وَاسْتَغْنَى وَكَذَّبَ بِالْحُسْنَى فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُ لِلْعُسْرَى}
Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that one day the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was sitting and he had a stick in his hand, with which he was scratching the ground. Suddenly, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) raised his blessed head and said: "The final abode of each one of you has already been known, whether it is Paradise or Hell." They said: "O Messenger of Allah! Then why should we act?" The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "You should act, for each one will find it easy to do that for which he was created." The command of Allah, the Exalted, is: «فَأَمَّا مَنْ أَعْطَىٰ وَاتَّقَىٰ وَصَدَّقَ بِالْحُسْنَىٰ فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُ لِلْيُسْرَىٰ وَأَمَّا مَنْ بَخِلَ وَاسْتَغْنَىٰ وَكَذَّبَ بِالْحُسْنَىٰ فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُ لِلْعُسْرَىٰ» Whoever gives (in the way of Allah), fears (his Lord), and affirms the truth of goodness, We will indeed ease him towards ease. But whoever is miserly, considers himself self-sufficient, and denies goodness, We will make easy for him the path to hardship. (Surah Al-Lail: 5 to 10)
