Rabi’ah Jurashi says: I asked Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) what the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to say when he stood for prayer at night and with what he used to begin the prayer. She said: He would say ten times: ALLAHU AKBAR, ten times: SUBHANALLAH, ten times: LA ILAHA ILLALLAH, and ten times: ASTAGHFIRULLAH, ten times: ALLAHUMMAGHFIR LI WAHDINI WARZUQNI, and ten times: ALLAHUMMA INNI A’UDHU BIKA MINAD-DAYYIQI YAWMAL-HISAB.
