Hadith 2120

The wife of the Messenger, Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), narrates: She says, "Be diligent in standing for prayer at night, because the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) never abandoned it. If he was ill, he would perform this prayer while sitting. I know that you say, 'We will only pray as much as has been decreed for us,' but then how will it attain its status?"

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … Sayyidah Aisha radi Allahu anha intends to say that when the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam was so diligent in standing for prayer at night, despite being infallible (ma'soom) and having his past and future sins forgiven, then it is all the more necessary for sinners like us to be diligent in this matter. Even though, in terms of worship, we cannot surpass the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam.
