Hadith 210

عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ شُعَيْبٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ جَدِّهِ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: ((لَا يُؤْمِنُ الْمَرْءُ حَتَّى يُؤْمِنَ بِالْقَدَرِ خَيْرِهِ وَشَرِّهِ)) قَالَ أَبُو حَازِمٍ: لَعَنَ اللَّهُ دِينًا أَنَا أَكْبَرُ مِنْهُ، يَعْنِي الْتَكْذِيبَ بِالْقَدَرِ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr bin Aas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A servant cannot be a believer until he believes in good and bad destiny." Abu Hazim (may Allah have mercy on him) said: May Allah curse that religion in which I am greater than it; his intention was to refute the denial of destiny.
Brief Explanation
Benefits: … Abu Hazim intends to say that what significance can that religion have in which the clause of believing in predestination (qadar) is not found? Such a religion would be so deficient that it would be even lesser than Abu Hazim himself.
