Hadith 2095

عَنِ الْمِقْدَامِ بْنِ شُرَيْحٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ: قُلْتُ لِعَائِشَةَ (رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا): مَا كَانَ يَصْنَعُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَخْرُجَ؟ قَالَتْ: كَانَ يُصَلِّي الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ يَخْرُجُ
Shurayh says: I asked Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) what the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to do before leaving the house. She said: He (peace and blessings be upon him) used to pray two rak'ahs, then he would leave.
Brief Explanation
Benefits: … From the other chains of transmission of this hadith in Musnad Ahmad, it becomes clear that the two rak‘ahs referred to here are the two sunnah (voluntary) units of prayer performed before the obligatory (fard) dawn (fajr) prayer.
