(Second chain) Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I offered two rak‘ahs before Zuhr with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), two after it, two after Maghrib, two after ‘Isha, and two after Jumu‘ah. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to offer the prayers after Jumu‘ah and Maghrib at home. And my sister, Sayyidah Hafsah (may Allah be pleased with her), informed me that when Fajr would dawn, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would offer two light rak‘ahs; this was a time when I would not go to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him).

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … From this hadith, two Sunnah (voluntary) units before Zuhr are established. From the last hadith of the next chapter, it is understood that the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam would always perform four Sunnah units before Zuhr. Now, the meaning here is that at times the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam would perform only two units, or that Sayyiduna Ibn Umar radi Allahu anhu was only aware of two units, whereas the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam would actually perform four. Both possibilities are valid. In any case, the superiority of four is established.
