بَابُ جَامِعِ تَطَوُّعِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِالنَّهَارِ وَرَوَاتِبِ الْفَرَائِضِComprehensive Chapter on the Prophet’s Voluntary Prayers During the Day and the Regular Sunnah Prayers
Hadith 2048

عَنْ عَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصَلِّي عَلَى كُلِّ إِثْرِ صَلَاةٍ (وَفِي رِوَايَةٍ: فِي دُبُرِ كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ) مَكْتُوبَةٍ رَكْعَتَيْنِ إِلَّا الْفَجْرَ وَالْعَصْرَ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) used to perform two rak‘ahs after every obligatory prayer except Fajr and ‘Asr.
