Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) saw in a dream that he was writing Surah Sad. When he reached the verse of prostration, he saw that the inkwell, pen, and everything near him had fallen into the state of prostration. Then, when he related this dream to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) began to perform prostration in it.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … This narration is in fact disconnected (munqati‘), but the following two narrations related to this subject are authentic:
Sayyiduna Abu Sa‘id al-Khudri radi Allahu anhu says: “I saw in a dream, as a sleeping person is shown, that I was under a tree, and it was as if the tree was reciting Surah Sad. When it reached the verse of prostration, it performed the prostration of recitation (sajdah al-tilawah), and in its prostration it said: ‘O Allah! Record for me a reward for this, remove from me a sin because of it, grant me anew the ability to be grateful through it, and accept it from me just as You accepted it from Your servant Dawud (alayhis salam).’ When morning came, I went to the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam and informed him of this. He sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: ‘Did you prostrate, O Abu Sa‘id?’ I said: ‘No.’ He sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: ‘You were more deserving of prostrating than the tree.’ Then the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam recited Surah Sad until he reached the verse of prostration, and in his prostration he said what the tree had said in its prostration.” (Musnad Abu Ya‘la: 1/298, Mu‘jam Awsat: no. 4904, Sahihah: 2710)
From Abu Hurayrah radi Allahu anhu: “Surah al-Najm was written in the presence of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. When he reached the verse of prostration, he prostrated, and we prostrated with him, and the inkwell and the pen also prostrated.” (Musnad al-Bazzar: 1/360/753, Sahihah: 3035)
In reality, every thing in the universe prostrates before Allah Ta‘ala and declares His praise and glory, as the statement of Allah Ta‘ala is: {وَلِلّٰہِیَسْجُدُمَافِیالسَّمٰوَاتِوَمَافِیالْاَرْضِ} (Surah al-Nahl: 49) … “Whatever is in the heavens and the earth prostrates to Allah Ta‘ala.”
He further said: {وَاِنْمِنْشَیْئٍاِلَّایُسَبِّحُبِحَمْدِہٖوَلٰکِنْلَاتَفْقَہُوْنَتَسْبِیْحَھُمْ} (Surah al-Isra: 44) … “Everything glorifies Him with His praise, but you do not understand their glorification.”
All the creatures that are before man, he cannot comprehend this manner of their worship. Sometimes, Allah Ta‘ala miraculously shows this, as is evident from these ahadith.
