وَعَنْهُ أَيْضًا أَنَّهُ قَالَ فِي السُّجُودِ فِي ص: لَيْسَتْ مِنْ عَزَائِمِ السُّجُودِ وَقَدْ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَسْجُدُ فِيهَا
It is also narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him), he said regarding the prostration (sajdah) of Surah Sad: This is not among the obligatory prostrations, however, I have seen the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) performing its prostration.
Brief Explanation
Benefits: … The meaning of ((it is not among the obligatory prostrations)) is that the command for this prostration has not been given in the form of an imperative, etc., as an obligation. In reality, the matter is that some types of recommended acts (mustahabbat) are more emphasized than others; however, this is the opinion of those scholars who do not consider it obligatory.
