Hadith 2012

Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) says that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to recite this supplication in the prostration of the Qur'an: "My face has prostrated to the One Who created it and opened its hearing and sight by His power and strength." (My face has prostrated to that Being Who created it and, by His power and strength, opened its ears and sight.)

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … In this hadith, the following supplication for the prostration of recitation (sajdah al-tilawah) is mentioned:

"My face has prostrated to the One Who created it and brought forth its hearing and its sight by His power and strength. So blessed is Allah, the best of creators." (Tirmidhi, Musnad Ahmad) The final words "So blessed is Allah, the best of creators" are an addition found in Mustadrak Hakim.

The second supplication: Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id al-Khudri radi Allahu anhu says: I saw in a dream that I was under a tree and the tree was reciting Surah Sad. When it reached the verse of prostration, it performed the prostration of recitation (sajdah al-tilawah) and recited this supplication:

"O Allah! Record for me a reward for it, remove from me a sin because of it, grant me gratitude anew through it, and accept it from me just as You accepted it from Your servant Dawud (alayhis salam)."

When morning came, I went to the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam and related the entire matter. He sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: "O Abu Sa'id! Did you also perform the prostration?" I said: No. He sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: "You were more deserving of prostrating than the tree." Then the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam recited Surah Sad until he reached the verse of prostration, (then he performed the prostration and) recited the same supplication that the tree had recited.
