Hadith 200

عَنْ أَبِي الدَّرْدَاءِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: ((فَرَغَ اللَّهُ إِلَى كُلِّ عَبْدٍ مِنْ خَمْسٍ، مِنْ أَجَلِهِ وَرِزْقِهِ وَأَثَرِهِ وَشَقِيٌّ أَمْ سَعِيدٌ))
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Darda’ (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Allah Almighty has decided five things for every servant: his death, sustenance, lifespan, and whether he will be wretched or fortunate.”
Brief Explanation
Benefits: … Despite this system of predestination (taqdeer), the servant is still required to seek goodness and virtue, to strive for their attainment, and to keep himself away from matters of evil and corruption.
