Hadith 1925

Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When any one of you becomes drowsy during prayer, he should sleep until the effect of sleep has gone away, because if he prays while in that drowsy state, it is possible that he may (think he is) seeking forgiveness, while in fact he is cursing himself.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … In the narration of Sunan al-Nasa’i, this example is also given: that the intention of the one praying is to say "Allahumma ighfir" (O Allah, forgive me), but due to the overpowering of sleep, what comes from his tongue is "Allahumma i‘fir" (O Allah, cover me with dust, make me dusty). The first phrase is a supplication (du‘a), and the second is a curse (bad du‘a).
