Hadith 1913

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ka'b bin 'Ujrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever performs ablution at home and then leaves (for the mosque) solely for the purpose of prayer, he remains in the state of prayer until he completes the prayer. And none of you should intertwine his fingers with each other during the prayer.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … Tashbik: To interlock the fingers of one hand firmly into the fingers of the other hand. From these ahadith, it is understood that tashbik is prohibited at the time when a person is going towards the mosque with the intention of prayer, or is waiting for the prayer, or is performing the prayer. Apart from these situations, it is established in several instances that the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam performed tashbik, as in the hadith of Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah and Sayyiduna Dhul-Yadayn radi Allahu anhuma, where the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, after completing two rak‘ahs, gave salam and stood leaning against a piece of wood lying in the mosque, while he had performed tashbik. (Bukhari, Muslim) Similarly, Sayyiduna Abu Musa radi Allahu anhu narrates that the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: A believer to another believer is like a building, each part strengthening the other. Then, to explain this, the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam performed tashbik. (Sahih Bukhari)
