Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), describing the way the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) performed prayer, says: When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) finished the prayer with salam, he would recite this supplication: "O Allah! Forgive me for what I have sent forth and what I have delayed, what I have done secretly and what I have done openly, what I have exceeded in, and what You know better than I do. You are the One who brings forward and You are the One who delays. There is no deity worthy of worship except You." (O Allah! Forgive for me those (sins) which I committed earlier and those which I committed later, and those which I committed secretly and those which I committed openly, and those in which I exceeded, and those which You know better than I do. You are the One who brings forward and You are the One who delays. There is no true deity except You.)

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … The wording of the narration in Sahih Muslim is as follows: "Thumma yakūnu min ākhiri mā yaqūlu bayna at-tashahhud wa at-taslīm." That is: Then the last (supplication) which the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam would recite between the tashahhud and the salutation (taslim), (would be this).
