Sa’ib bin Yazid says: I performed the Friday prayer shortened with Sayyiduna Muawiyah bin Abi Sufyan (may Allah be pleased with him). When he finished the prayer with salam, I stood in my place and began to pray. When he entered his residence, he sent for me. When I went to him, he said: Do not do in the future what you did today. When you have performed the Friday prayer, do not perform any prayer with it, that is, after it, until you have spoken or left from there, because the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) has commanded that you should not join any (obligatory) prayer with another prayer until you have left from there or spoken.
