Hadith 1842

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to pray standing, sitting, barefoot, and wearing shoes—in all manners. In one narration it is mentioned: And after the prayer, he would turn to both the right and the left sides.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … The fact that the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam performed prayer both standing and sitting should be understood as referring to voluntary (nafl) prayers, because the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam would receive the full reward even when performing voluntary prayers while sitting. If one were to apply this hadith to obligatory (fard) prayers, then sitting would be due to an excuse, as is established in other ahadith that the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam also performed obligatory prayers while sitting due to an excuse.
