Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) says: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to remain after his prayer for as long as it took to recite this supplication: "O Allah! You are As-Salam and from You is peace. Blessed are You, O Possessor of Majesty and Honor." (O Allah! You are As-Salam and peace is from You. O Possessor of Majesty and Honor, You are greatly blessed.)

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … Two meanings of this hadith are possible: (1) By "sitting" is meant sitting while facing the qiblah, that is, the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam would remain facing the qiblah while reciting this supplication, then would turn to the right, left, or towards the people and engage in other remembrances; and (2) it is also possible that sometimes the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam would stand up after sitting only for as long as it took to recite the supplication after the prayer. In any case, being diligent in reciting the prescribed remembrances (adhkar) after the obligatory prayer is an extremely important act, although it is not a condition to remain seated in the same place for them; rather, it is also permissible to stand up and engage in the Sunnah prayers or any other activity.
