عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ: حَذْفُ السَّلَامِ سُنَّةٌ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The abbreviation of Salam is Sunnah.
Brief Explanation
Benefits: … The meaning of this hadith is that the words of salam should not be prolonged when uttered; rather, the imam should say the salam with appropriate swiftness. The scholars have considered this manner to be recommended (mustahabb).
