It is narrated from a Companion of the Messenger of Allah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked a man: What do you say in prayer? He replied: First I recite the Tashahhud, then I supplicate in this way: O Allah, I ask You for Paradise and seek refuge in You from the Fire. I cannot recite in a humming manner like you and Mu'adh do. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: We also hum around these words.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … Dandana (humming) refers to speech that cannot be understood. This Companion referred to the supplications of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam and Sayyiduna Mu'adh radi Allahu anhu as dandana because either, being a Bedouin, he could not understand them, or the reason for not understanding was that they were recited in a low (secret) voice. It appears that this Companion was among the followers (muqtadis) of Sayyiduna Mu'adh radi Allahu anhu; that is why he mentioned him specifically. The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: We also hum around them. The meaning of this is that the essence of our supplications is also the same: to ask for good things and to seek protection from evil things.
