Hadith 1800

(وَعَنْهُ مِنْ طَرِيقٍ ثَانٍ) قَالَ: قِيلَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ! كَيْفَ نُصَلِّي عَلَيْكَ؟ فَقَالَ: ((قُولُوا: اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلَى آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَبَارِكْ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلَى آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ كَمَا بَارَكْتَ عَلَى إِبْرَاهِيمَ فِي الْعَالَمِينَ إِنَّكَ حَمِيدٌ مَجِيدٌ))
(Second chain) They said: It was asked of you, O Messenger of Allah! How should we send blessings upon you? So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Say like this: O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad and upon the family of Muhammad, and bless Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, as You blessed Ibrahim in the worlds. Indeed, You are Praiseworthy, Glorious.
Brief Explanation
Benefits: … By "ummi" is meant a person who has not learned reading or writing from any human being. It is a separate matter that such a person may be of the highest rank in wisdom, sagacity, judgment, eloquence, and rhetoric, or even a Messenger, like the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, or may know nothing about religion or worldly matters.
