Hadith 1791

Nafi' says: When Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) would sit in prayer, he would place his hands on his knees, point with his finger, and keep his gaze fixed upon it. Then he would narrate that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Verily, this finger is harder upon Satan than iron.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … The one performing prayer, by gesturing with the index finger, expresses the oneness of Allah Ta‘ala and sincerity in worship for Him, and this act is the most distressing for Shaytan; thus, it causes him more pain than even a blow of iron. May Allah Ta‘ala protect us from his evil.
