Hadith 1700

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Beware! Indeed, I have been forbidden from reciting (Qur'an) during bowing and prostration, therefore, in bowing, glorify your Lord, the Exalted, and in prostration, strive in supplication, for it is most likely that it will be accepted for you.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … It is prohibited to recite the Qur’an during prostration (sajdah) or bowing (ruku‘). Various supplications (du‘a) for ruku‘ and sajdah have been transmitted from the Noble Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam). The supplications for ruku‘ have already been mentioned; the supplications for sajdah will be discussed in the following chapters. From the ahadith of this chapter, it is understood that any supplication may be made in prostration, because the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) gave a general command to make supplication.
